About Thomas Baillie

Barry and Stuart, Thomas Baillie’s co-owners, moved to Canada from Scotland in 2009. After working for various employers they decided that the time was right to look for a place to open their own salon. Thomas Baillie was born from an amalgamation of family names. They wanted their first salon to have the aura of class it deserved, and so over dinner one night the name Thomas Baillie was decided!

Since opening its doors in 2010, the salon has won 5 Reader’s Choice Awards for “Best Hair Salon” from Clarington This Week, won the ‘Peoples’ Choice Award’ at the 2016 L’Oreal Colour Trophy and twice hosted the successful “Miles for Styles” event to raise money and awareness for “Angel Hair for Kids” – a charity that Thomas Baillie is an ongoing supporter of. Additionally raising money for the Canadian M.S. Society in their annual 5k walk through Bowmanville, its evident that family and charity are both key pillars for the success of the salon.

Thomas Baillie is now a flagship salon for the haircare brand Pureology, as their brand identity fits well with the salon’s ethos; being very eco-minded and using natural ingredients along with being unapologetically luxurious. They are also a Green Circle salon with much of their waste (chemicals, colouring foils, paper, plastics, hair) being collected every week to be repurposed and/or recycled.

With over 20 years of hairstyling experience, plus numerous awards under his belt, salon owner and head stylist, Barry, has amassed a large and loyal clientele from all over the GTA. This has helped the Thomas Baillie hair experience become synonymous with fantastic client care and integrity in the local community and beyond.
